I'm a bridesmaid in a September wedding, and I've been asked to make the card box for the reception.

I need help!

I haven't been to too many weddings, and I've never paid attention to the card box.  On top of that, the bride and groom are trying to be as original and nontraditional as possible, so just a box wrapped in white paper or fabric will not work  Undecided

Their wedding colors are dark red, rust, gold, silver, and dark brown.  The bride is wearing a dark red and gold dress.  There is a wine theme with the center pieces.  And she's a really good environmentalist.

Any ideas? Huh

some people use decorative metal birdcages for their cardbox.  You could decorate it with grape vines.

maybe you could try a wine basket...you know those baskets that are used to carry wine bottles...or you could try to find a small barrel that looks like a wine barrel and cut a slit in it long ways so card can fit....Huh hope you figure out something!!

My friend's card "box" was made from handmade paper being covered over a big balloon. When the paper dried she popped the balloon, covered the whole thing in mod Podge and added a monogram to it. It looked very organic.

You could use a really interesting basket and wrap ribbons on it or flowers or some other decoration.

Or perhaps a mail box?

This is what I'm doing for my wedding. I got beautiful 8x10 frames on sale at Michaels for $5 each.

There if a full tutorial here (and the blog is also the source for the photo):

Check out this card box:

You could easily modify it to make it more original for your friends, while keeping it in the colour theme.
