Here's the latest dress I made for my daughter.

I've been on a sewing kick for her especially...this is about the 7th thing I've made for her so far since the Spring!  Smiley

So cute!  Did the fabric come already smocked like that?  I love these dresses and am thinking of making some for my daughter.

Thanks!  No, I smocked it.  Just run across the fabric using regular thread on the top and elastic thread in the bobbin, using your longest stitch and pulling taught as you go.  Also, don't forget to backstitch at the beginning and end of each row, or it'll unravel.  I did about 16 rows.  Before I did the smocking, I did hems across the top and bottom of the dress.  Once the smocking is done, just stitch right sides together along the side seam of the dress.  Then I added straps at the top.  Pretty easy actually! Smiley

EDIT:  Here's a link to what I loosely followed:

I love that tute.  i've made two dresses for my little girl from it so far. . . scared to try one for meself, as i'm fairly blessed with boobage.  It's such a great way to make a simple sundress.

I LOVE that fabric, too.  I think i've got a yard or so floating around here somewhere. . .

Great job!

So sweet!  What a nice fabric for a little girl.

If it had grown up, it would have made a dreadfully ugly child; but it makes rather a handsome pig, I think.

Thanks everybody!  Cheesy

Sandroo, I laughed when I read your comment about the "boobage" thing!  I, too, am larger in the chest than I'd like, so I don't think I'll be trying one of these dresses for myself, but I can dream, can't I?  Roll Eyes  Meanwhile, I'll just live vicariously through my daughter, who loves it when I sew things for her.
