hey everyone!
for this challenge i made a big reproduction of a water lily photo that i had taken. i cut out tiny flowers out of magazines and divided a canvas into about 500 squares and then glued the cut-out flowers to the canvas to form a pixelated version of the original photo. it took me forever to find and cut out all the magazine flowers, but i'm happy with the end result. It's kinda hard to see the picture as a whole since it's close up, sorry.

shows the color better:

detail:

This is a bad picture, but it shows the flower better since it's far away:

original photo:

thanks so much looking!

This is gorgeous. In the thumbnail it looks like needlepoint or cross stitch. It's fantastic that it's individual little flowers! What a great piece of wall art.

I didn't read all the replies, so someone may have already said this, but...Did you cut those out by hand?Huh  I thought you use a punch!  Then on the closer-up, I saw they woere folded, and I was like, "she took the time to fold all those punch-outs!?!?""  THEN I realized they looked scissor-cut!!  WOWOW!!!!!  Either way, this is beautiful you better hang it somewhere special where everyone can see it!

This is amazing.  From the thumbnail, I thought maybe it was one of those hook rug things...THIS IS SO MUCH COOLER!

Do you mind if I ask how you attached the flowers to the canvas?  Did you just use craft glue?  I'd love to try this (although to be honest, I don't know that I have the patience that I imagine this would require...I think I might cut out half the flowers, and then get irritated and crabby and throw them across the room).

i just used Elmer's glue to attach the flowers, and that worked fine. if you're using thick or glossy paper (which you shouldn't do because it's hard to cut) the flowers  might peel away, but using magazines with Elmer's glue works perfectly. and yeah, when i was making this i did get a little discouraged because of the amount of time i had to put into it, but if you're watching a movie or TV while doing it, it goes a lot faster!
