My daughter was born June 20 and my mom's birthday is July 3. I haven't been able to drive, so I needed to make a gift out of items already in my house. I took a nice big picture frame with a precut mat with room for a 4x6 picture, some nontoxic paint, found a poem online and edited it a bit, and added her handprints. That was more difficult than expected because she kept clinching her little fists, so we had to get the prints quickly. You can also tell that I didn't quite leave enough space for the handprints. Whoops! I added some ribbon to the insides and put it all together.

She went wild over it. The picture isn't so hot, but at least you can tell the concept!

Oh my Gosh!!!  This must have been the best gift grandma has gotten since when.  This is so adorable and in my opinion a perfect birthday gift.  I love that poem and if your angels handprints were more perfect they would look like a print.
Just perfect. Congratulations on both birthdays.

What a fabulous idea! I love it!!

I might borrow (steal?) the idea.. I have a 6 month old daughter. We live in WA & my mom lives in IL-- way too far to see her only grandbaby as much as she would like!

YES use this idea! Just remember you have ONE shot with the handprints--next time I do this (next grandma's birthday is end of July!) I'll be more sure to leave enough space for the handprints and wait until she is out like a light and has limp hands. I kept trying to use my tiny sponge roller on her little hands and she'd clinch her fists!
