spice up some of your favorite pictures with color and jazz the completed project looks something like this:

This was something that My best friend and I came up with while bored on day... you can do this with a friend or alone... and its super fun [and time consuming for these long boring summer days]  first take a picture and print it off in black and white from your computer like this[best of only faces]:

then paste [i used Elmers white glue]  brushing on the glue with a paint brush for solid coverage without those gross glue bumps [you know what i'm talking about] it should look sort of like this:

then the fun begins... pick crazy colors [the more colorful the better] the whole idea is to reproduce the picture but in an Andy Wharhol type style... [for those of you who don't know Mr. Warhol here is a link to look at some of his work: http://www.artchive.com/artchive/W/warhol.html ] after you paint the picture paint a crazy fun background [if you still have space on your canvas]  with different things that the both of you like, you should get an outcome like this:

**this is one i did on my own**

**ones my best friend and i did together**

**all of the completed onesr**

aren't they just precious! I LOVE THEM!
thank you for looking!!!

PS.
if you don't think you can do faces don't worry its pretty simple... all the lighter parts of the face paint with a light color [whatever color mixed with white]  and on the darker parts of the face paint with a dark color [whatever color mixed with black] then fill in the rest with the color tones and you'll have a face looking like yours in no time!
***note: if you are doing this with a friend let the more art inclined person do the picture and then the other do the background, that's how my friend and i worked it anyways ***

That is actually a really good way to make them andy warhol style- I've always used photoshop to make them have that affect, but this seems way easier!

Lovely job!  Cheesy

I think this is so neat! It's like paint-by-numbers without the numbers. I want to give this a try...

So, you put the paint right over the photo? And do you print the photo on regular paper or photo paper?

yeah you print it on normal paper, and just paint right over it.... its hard to smooth it out and not get bubbles, but its possible... just keep trying! its easiest to paint the glue on the back with a paint brush then press and smooth with your hands, also when you varnish the painting after you're done it should smooth out the edges that may have turned up... lol kind of like modge podging!

Thanks! I'm definitely trying this! And, I think I'll share it with the art teacher at school who does something with value scales. Usually the kids do geometric shapes, but how much more fun for them would it be to paint themselves?! I'll try it first, since my painting skills are probably on a par with a fifth grader. If I can do it, most of them should be able to do it...
