Craft Challenge #41 - The Incredible Edible Challenge - Due Aug 1 - Aug 5 2009

8/13/09 - Winner chosen!

Congrats to Banga for her entry titled, Painter’s Palette Appetizer Platter!
Read all about her project here:  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=315921.0

Check out the blog featuring a few of the other entries as well!  http://www.craftster.org/blog/?p=3299

8/6/09 - Time to vote!  Scroll up for the poll...
Browse all the challenge entries here:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?board=429.0

8/1/09 - The entry board is open! http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?board=429.0

Your challenge this month (if you choose to accept it!) is to recreate any kind of craft with, you guessed it, food!  Your entry should be a recreation of craft tools or materials, and perhaps you'll even include an actual craft project made from food.  Your entry should be as close to 100% edible as possible!  Though, you might not actually want to eat the combination of edible supplies you use, they should definitely be from the edible category.

To get your crafty gears turning, here are just a few crafts recreated in food from Craftster and elsewhere...

You could take a clever and abstract approach such as this bowl of yarn and knitting needles made from licorice and pixie sticks.  Or could try to recreate a craft in a realistic way such as these cupcakes with different stages of knitting in marzipan, or this amazing sewing machine cake.  Those are just a few approaches that can be taken.

Just make it fun, crafty, and edible!

Rules:

  • Post your craft during the period of Aug 1 - Aug 5 2009.  No sooner.  No later.  On Aug 1 there will be a special folder created for entries.
  • Voting will happen from Aug 6 - Aug 12 2009.
  • Each participant can enter ONE project. (Although your entry can have multiple components to it.)

Originality:

It's probably impossible to know whether your project is 100% original, has never been posted on Craftster, and/or made by anyone else in the past.  But if your project was definitely inspired by something you've seen before, then just give credit to that project.

Prizes:

At the end, I'll set up a poll right here and the first place winner will get...

(1) their project in the Featured Projects area
(2) their project in the Craftster Blog

And this prize (winner can receive prize in U.S. or non-U.S.):

Any one item from one of Craftster's online shops!

VERY cool!

I was searching inspiration last night and found this one:  http://myfindsonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/04/knitting-cake.jpg  It says, "Memories are stitched with love," and, "Love is the thread that binds us."  I love it!  The little pair of glasses tucked in there are just all sorts of awesome.

Wow, those examples are gorgeous! I'd really love a sewing machine cake someday. (Hm... who to drop the hints to?)

But I'll think about this challenge. I may or may not spark an idea...
