Flower Brooch Pattern

This is the pattern for the flower brooch that I posted yesterday along with my beach bag. I have a more in depth photo tutorial on my blog in this entry if you need more help than just the text. I hope you enjoy it!

This pink and green flower was made with 6sc in the magic loop, the others are made with 5sc.

Flower Brooch
Materials
* Scrap yarn in 2 colors
* Crochet hook in the appropriate size for your yarn - I find it better to use a smaller hook to make the flower sturdy unlike the purple one heh
* Yarn needle

Instructions
Start with a Mollie flower – make a magic ring, with either 5 or 6 sc in 2nd ch to start. Puff st in each sc.

Round 1: When done making the Mollie flower, join 2nd color and puff stitch in the first ch of every previous row’s puff stitch, ch 1, repeat around, at the end of the round sl st to first puff stitch in this row.

Round 2: Join mc again, ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in same st, sl st in next ch 1 sp. (ch3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, sl st in next ch 1 sp) around, sl st to the first ch1 space. If it looks a little raggedy in shape during this round, thats ok. The finishing round will fix it up.

Round 3: Join 2nd color again, sc in next sc. in ch 3 space: sc, ch 1 sc. Repeat around, working sc, ch 1, sc in the ch 3 spaces.

Finishing: To make the center of the flower use the 2nd color to make a magic ring and 5 sc in the first ch. Sc in each sc around, fasten off leaving a tail. Sew to the middle of the flower, weave in ends and you are done!

This flower can be put on a pin back to make a brooch like the one that I made for my bag, attached to a hair elastic to make a cute girly hair clip or sewn as an embellishment on a crochet piece. It would look adorable on a hat or as an accent on a scarf. This purple flower is going on a hair elastic for my niece Angelina Rose. The pink and green one is going to my mom on a pin also.
