I am far from the first person to think of this, but I am very happy with my results. I made a clock out of a childhood favorite, a Nancy Drew book I found in a thrift store (The Secret of the Old Clock - geddit?  Cheesy ).

I bought a clock kit at Michael's and traced it onto the back page of the book, then cut away the pages with an exacto knife so it would fit inside. Then I attached the hands (directions are on the clock kit). You could also disassemble an old/thrifted clock mechanism for this part. Last I glued a small part of the center of the pages to keep it together, leaving the last page free to access the battery, and the top and bottom free to fan out a little. I clamped it all until it was dry, and presto! Book clock!  Cheesy
