Details of swap:Dotees - Mini Art Dolls - Round 6

Here we go again - more Dotees.

For those of you who have made them, here is another opportunity to be creative. For those of you who have not made a dotee, the rules are simple. Each doll must be 4" to 6" tall, each one has a face and a loop for hanging. You can use fabric, yarn, paper, clay, canvas - anything to make the face and body. Some past participants have used buttons, rubber stamps, plastic clay, embroidery and beads to make faces. Bodies can be round, square, traingular, teardrop-shaped - ANYTHING!

Each participant agrees to use Delivery Confirmation tags (in the USA) or keeps a copy of international/Customs receipts. I will try to limit the international makers to one per group. (Let me know if you ABSOLUTELY do not want to send out of the country.)

Oh goodness! I really really hope I get to join this one... I've got so many neat ideas!

We're going on vacation for a week and a half in July and then we're supposed to be closing on our first home on Aug 21st... just need to decide if I am willing to put off packing and whatnot.

I think I put too many tiny details into the last ones that didn't really translate well after it was all sewn together. Maybe if I make these a bit more simple but put more thought into the actual structure of the dotee instead of painting and hand sewing (which all my last ones were...) then I could make time.

fingers crossed!

You're right, Mel, simple is best. However I loved yours in the last round so do what makes you happy. When I did the Picasso-inspired dotees in Round 4, I had tried them earlier. I cut out about 20 small felt pieces and attempted to make the faces all crooked-y and arty and they just looked messy. Finally I hit upon the idea of just taking a few elements and adding the shrink plastic eyes and it all came together.

And I bought a bunch of old "ARTNews" magazines at a garage sale - I'm thinking Miro, Leger, Botero....oh, no! I'm getting HUGE ideas for this round....

I'm thinking about this one.

I was going to take a swap break after the ones I'm in are done, but I've really wanted to do one these too. hmmm....
