here is a shrine of a Raven/Cuervo that i made for Aeon_Goddess in the Mexican Kitsch swap

(for larger, see here!)

here is a closeup of the raven itself, before it went behind the "glass":

he's just paper clay with black acrylic... and of course glitter!
and the background is sharpies on aluminum foil.

I like the effect of the sharpies on foil.

this is really classy-looking.  i like, among other things, how happy the skull looks!

thank you both for the nice comments!

i got the sharpies idea because my family used to make mexican style tin ornaments decorated with sharpies.  not sure if it's an authentic way, but it might be.  they have sharpies everywhere, right?

the shape of mine was, in a sense, random ...  i was given this nicho shape by a family member who knew i am always wanting to make nichos (and never getting around to it).  it was named "beehive" on the back and i thought ... ugh, i hate bees.  but then this swap turned up, and suddenly i saw the potential of this funny shape, if i spray-painted it black and added colors.

Ooh thanks so much for starting this up again!

Love how you really showcased the raven - and somehow used so much color but still kept it looking kind of dark overall.

And Phizzychick your ability to convey so much in such a small space - without having it look at all crowded is amazing.  Beautiful choice of items and composition.

I have at least 2 shrines in my head trying to fight their way out.  I've got to find some free time.

It's not that I don't want to swap, it's that I often don't have time.  But feel free to ask (especially if it's one that's not too time consuming).

Love those shrines!

Nataluna, the sharpie effect is awesome! I really love how kitchy your shrine came out.

Phizzy, I love that shrine so much. But, you already knew that. Wink

Here's my first shrine of the year! A shrine to the greek goddess Hestia I did for a personal swap:

Danni, i like the way that you made it not busy, so it looks more classical.  and that the rocks/sticks are real.

thank you guys for the comments on my kitschy raven shrine!
