quick and simple recon's but...

i made thiiiiiiis:

from this brand new shirt:

the before t-shirt was pretty cool: bright colours, with a comic book theme. but i didnt like how it was JUST a t-shirt (too many tshirts in my closet Tongue). i added yellow edges on top and bottom and turned it into a tubetop! then cut yellow and black scraps into strips so theres some deco in the front!

--------------------------->8

another new shirt i got at the disney store on sale! it was a long sleeve child's medium (didnt fit me of course), but i love jack too much to pass up the cute design!

i fitted it, added 2 straps (made with the same fabric as the shirt) on one side, and straps with a lace ribbon on the other side. on the back, the straps meet and form an "x" with a d-ring added for extra coolness Smiley the bottom of the back is also tied Smiley

--------------------------->8
before: my sister's pants that she barely wore. i forgot to take a before pic, but its the exact same as this, but with pink stripes.

after: the shirt is made up of 6 panels + 2 for bodice. cut off the leg part of the pants and sewed it together. then fitted it with darts. used left overs for the bodice and straps. the straps actually have lace detail, but i forgot to take a close up. the back is my fav, it dips into a 'v' - made possible bcuz the back is actually made of 4 panels!

--------------------------->8
before: another brand new huge shirt from the guy's section. i love the design of the shirt: skulls, bugs, and paint splatters that brighten up the black!

after: made it into a tank! one side has straps that tie up (adjustable of course!) and the other side has 3 straps that go along the shoulder.

--------------------------->8
***this was more of a for-fun/ experiment. i didnt really know what i was doing- LOL. tell me what you think, keep? or cut up & use for scrap fabric?

before: minnie mouse t-shirt that i never wore

after: hot pink skirt with black side inserts. the bottom of the skirt has black fabric edge. the top is just serged. i thought about added a black edge to the top as well, but the fabric stretches and fits like a dream. i dont know how to describe the upper part of the skirt.. just took scrap of black, sewed it, then held it down with a peice of pink Smiley

thanks for looking Smiley

Good work! I love the jogging pants shirt. That Mickey mouse skirt looks a bit tight though.

These are some great recons! I think I like the one with the asymmetrical straps (three on one side, and the tie on the other) the best.

Very nice! I like the asymmetrical straps on the tops. The skirt is cute...will you wear it much though? Can you wear it as a tube top? The black panels with the pink in the middle might look cool as a bandeau style.

Thank you for creating such inspiring recons!  My youngest now wants to learn how to do this to all of her unused stuff, LOL.  Her exact words were "I want them... I want them all!  They're just so pretty!  Teach me how to do this!"  She especially liked the Nightmare Before Christmas shirt.  Very stylish.

I LOVE your first shirt !!!! that yellow really gives it that extra !
I have always asked myself this question but never dared to ask it Cheesy
Now I am just doing it !
Do you just cut in it? Or do you put in on your bodyform and than cut? Or on you own body, draw lines and than cut?

sorry for the late reply! >_<
mm, im too cheap to afford a body form  Tongue
soo i either use an old shirt to take the approximate shape
or wear the to-be-cut-shirt and pin the sides around my body

when im sewing i always cut, sew, try it on. cut, sew, try it on. etc Tongue

Those are all awesome!
I agree; the first one looks a lot cooler as a tube top Wink
I love that! It looks really good with the yellow bits on it.
I also love the Jack one and the splattery bug ones. Great job on all Smiley
