I've been wanting to make a corset for years and years, but they always seemed really intimidating...boni ng, laces, hooks...when I still struggle with putting a zipper in a tote bag.  Luckily for me I found this great corset making class and oila...and it wasn't nearly as difficult as I was imagining.  And I found this great fabric that is so colorful and graphic that I figured it would hide any small mistakes.  Here is the finished project.

The front:

The back:

The side showing the geisha girls in the fabric.

And a close up of the fabric.  I think it is by Alexander Henry.

It's not perfect, but I'm really happy with it for being my first try.  I can't take credit for the pattern.  The instructor drafted the patterns for us, so I just had to cut and sew, but I can't wait to make another one.

Thanks for looking.

That's a fantastic first corset! Mine was nowhere near as good, though they've gotten easier with practice. And that fabric looks awesome as a corset! I'd probably wear that everywhere.  Cheesy

That fabric is gorgeous, I am totally envious of it.  I think you did a great job, I would never be able to tell that it was your first corset.

I took the class in Seattle at Pacific Fabrics.  I strongly recommend it to anyone who lives in the area.  The teacher is great and it's for all sewing levels, all sizes, and for both women or men.
