Friend #3- This is the only one I'm really stumped on. We recently broke up but since we're still good friends I want to make him something. He's a gamer, loves WoW, is really into computer stuff- any ideas? Huh

stencil him either a horde symbol or the alliance emblem on a shirt using the freezer paper method [link to tut mentioned before in case you dont know how yet]. Or if he drinks-etch him some shotglasses. or you could crochet him a hat with the horde or alliance symbol on it [if you can], if he likes to write-a journal. Or you could always make him one of the ornaments that has a bunch of computer parts stuck on it--its in the "I NEED KNEW IDEAS for christmas ornaments thread. Make him a giant pillow or beanbag for his gaming. umm...yeah thats all i got right now. lol hope that helped

Thanks you so much for the ideas!

Game stuff also works really well in cross stitch. Cross stitch is also really easy, even if you've never done it before. There are tons of gaming related x stitch pieces on the Needlework board.

right now i'm only planning on making 2 christmas presents:
1.)spin some yarn for my aunt
2.)make this: http://andrayascrochet.blogspot.com/2009/06/seamless-hooded-scarf-pattern.html for my mom.  she walks the dog in the morning so i think she'll like it for those cold winter mornings.  plus it saves her a step while getting ready, which the dog will like.   Cheesy

i was thinking of making some little ornaments to send out with my christmas cards this year, but i'm not sure i'll have time.  we'll have to see how it goes.

Those ideas for WoW are great! I have thought about doing something for my hubby, but since I don't play I have no idea about it. And since I love cross stitch I might look into cross stitching the Alliance emblem on a shirt or something. I'm pretty sure I know that much, that he's part of the alliance!

just finished!

Husband - I'm making a remote control organizer to hang over the edge of his recliner. I might make it roomy enough so his game controllers will fit as well.

Both of my kids will get new hats in their stockings this year. I made my first crochet hat last week and they both went bananas over it. My son's will be his favorite shade of blue (needs some trim, dunno what yet) and my daughter's is going to be pink with white furry thread trim.

Son (almost 9) - I'm making him a set of the Mario figures. I made the Mushroom using the soda pop pin cushion pattern and he went bananas. I now have to decide which characters to make. I've already made the green mushroom, red 'shroom and a goomba. Maybe a Koopa, dunno... New addition! - with hopes my first arigarumi critter!

Daughter (almost 4) - dress up purse with matching hair pins, faire/princess dress I bought extra dress up goodies for her at the Dollar Tree yesterday! Wings, a couple pairs of shoes and a tiara. Smiley

Mom - crocheted scarf and 3 pairs of earrings

Dad - a lap quilt and something else to be determined

My coworkers - (I'm the dept head at work.) - I'm making felt ornaments for them. Maybe some kind of quick edible goodie...chocolate bark is a serious possibility. Smiley

My kids' teachers - I'm thinking I'll use the rest of my preserves or apple butter for them, but that means I have to fix a double batch so that I'll have some for us. Preserves and apple butter are done!

yeah, i didnt think of that because I dont x-stitch or embroider. lol but i've seen some awesome gamer embroideries/cross-stitches as well.

I don't play either. I just happen to have quite a few of past swap-partners who are WoW players. I never even heard of WoW until craftster! lol

This Christmas, for me, it will be a combination of reuse/recycle and crafting.

Boyfriend

My kiddos - fleece blankets for both, tutu for daughter, bleach pen tees for both, learn to read books from thrift stores,

My parents - buying garden pavers from garden store, will have kids paint on them, seal them to make stepping stones for parents gardens; downloaded Photo Story to make dvds for them

My female friends and family - Rapunzal scarves, second hand cookbooks, jewelry, jewelry holders from second hand finds; prayer journals

My male friends and family - live fish in personalized etched containers, bleached tees

Other people's kiddos - bleached tees, second hand books, personalized book marks, tutus, personalized binders (second hand) covered in fabric, ribbon, yarn, etc;

Teachers - cookie sheet magnetic boards (I plan to use used/second hand cookie sheets from thrift)

crafting women and WoW playing men must go together. Hubby plays too. I'm planning on making him a messenger bag and then getting one of the pre-made Hoard patches to put on it. That way it's related to the game but not so blatantly that he looks stupid carrying it to work or church since he is 31.
