My sister loves the Otaku diet (Onigiri, pocky, sushi, and soda :3)
 She hates frosting for cakes.

I want to make her an Onigiri themed cake.

Any ideas on how?

So... if she doesn't like frosting, why not bake something that doesn't need frosting like brownies or a giant pan cookie? And you could break up strawberry or chocolate pocky into bits and have it spell out Happy Birthday on the cookie. Just a thought.

Try covering it in white sprinkles or flaked coconut? You may need a thin layer of frosting for "glue," but that's all.

Sorry  I overlooked the onigiri theme. I have an idea. Just bear with me. Make candy onigiri. Make rice krispie treats. When they're still warm, ball them up into onigiri shapes. Then wrap them with green fruit roll ups. presto, candy onigiri. I'll try to come up with a cake idea later.

Use fondant. It's disgusting, so everyone will peel it off, anyway. You can buy packets at any major craft store.
