I didn't do it!

So I found this tut for making cherry blossom flowers out of felt and I *needed* to make some and sew them to something. Seeing as how my sewing machine is currently out of commission (which, by the way, is torture!) I needed something quick and easy because I was obsessing over the felt cherry blossoms. For 2 days straight I lamented about needing felt to make them and something to sew them to, and as I was frantically raiding my stash (read: massive pile of junk in my closet) I came across some red and white felt I'd used to make some appliques for a hoodie a while back. Score!

Originally, I started sewing a messenger bag type purse, but about halfway through decided I hated it, and so I raided my stash again (bad idea... 3 bins of fabric and old clothes fell out and landed on my head... ouch.) and found an old pair of uuuuugly men's jeans, and decided that the simplest thing I could make was a tote bag. And viola, the (almost) cherry blossom denim tote was born!

Unfortunately, I cannot decide whether or not I like it. It's definitely not my style, but I can't decide if it's hideous or kitschy. Any ideas on what I should do with it?

(apologies for the photo, this was the only good one I could get)

It's ADORABLE.  One can never have too many totes.  I'm not sure, but the handles look blanket stitched in red.  So cute!

Thank you all for the nice comments ^_^

The handles are, in fact, blanket stitched with very thin red crochet thread (yarn?). Actually the whole thing is made with that thread, I was too lazy to dig out regular thread. Plus, It's much sturdier, which is good considering the whole thing is hand stitched. I've been on a bag kick lately since I don't have a machine right now and they are small and easy to do. ^_^

Oh, and the tutorial for the cherry blossoms is at the bottom of the post. I didn't make puffy ones because I didn't want them to stick out too far from the bag, but I used the template (if you print it, fit it to one page, else it will come out awfully small) and attached them the same way she did.
