my grandmother has been rather ill lately, and all of the time spent sitting in the hospital/nursing home/doctor's office has created the need for portable crafting -  so i decided to pick up my crocheting again.
i finally figured out the trick to making hats (instead of tiny bowls) so i've been making them like mad  Cheesy
unfortunately i have yet to figure out the secret of sizing, so for the time being, they're all baby hats.

the first one:
a beanie made from lion brand jiffy in "country evening" and finished off with paton's divine in "floral fantasy". i swear she's not drunk, she  just closed her eyes because of the flash.

for the next one i got all ambitious and made ear flaps. i'm pretty proud of this one.

oh, and that's lion brand jiffy in "denver evening"

finally, since i'm kind of obsessed with camoflage, i was inspired by this thread
http://www.craftster.org/yabbse/index.php?board=22;action=display;threadid=2832
so i made a hat for myself and a headband for lily.
my hat actually fits her better than it does me, so i think she's inherited it and i'll make another one for myself.

these were made from the red heart "camoflage".

those look so soft and cozy-and i love the earflapped one! looks like she does, too. i really must move on from scarves.  those lil' baby heads grow so fast, we're down to one boring hat.

the good thing about the yarns i used is that (with the exception of the paton's divine) they're all pretty stretchy. especially the red heart.

stretchy is good when guessing hat sizes...i know my first attempts would barely fit my cat!

I could look at hats all day if your little sweetie would model them!

Made me happy just looking at your pictures!

the hats are crocheted. i thought i was using the double crochet stitch, but taking a look at http://www.stitchguide.com i actually think it's a stitch i made up by screwing up double crochet  Roll Eyes
the pattern was pretty much trail and error - i can't follow a pattern to save my life  Tongue
