I was at Hobby Lobby last night and asked one of the employees where the Halloween stuff was since they already had Thanksgiving and Christmas things out.  She told me that particular store wouldn't even be carrying anything for Halloween!

hmm....that is odd. Sometimes they don't though. It's a Christian-owned company, and in some sects of Christianity celebrating that holday is strictly forbidden. Probably some group in the area complained.

Yeah now that you mention it, the hobby lobby near me had a very limited Halloween selection last year and most of it was just Fall and Pumpkin items. Fortunately, I have a Joanne's, Target, Micheal's and a Walmart that still carries craft items around me...

I received some more supplies that I ordered on line today.   I wish our Walmart still had a good craft area.  I did find a few things at Tuesday Morning and Michael's also. Hope to get to another Walmart.  It is fun having more that just a few items to craft, I usually have a hard time narrowing my list down, with this swap I won't have to.  At least that is my hope!

I heard the halloween stuff will be out in september.

does anyone know if we have to give as many items as the day (example: day 13; 13 items)

You might want to go back through and read the first post of this thread- YES - you do need to have the same number of items as the day number.

From the first post in the thread-

The idea of this swap is to craft for your partner 13 groups of items (91 items in total-it is highly encouraged that day 13 be candy or some type of baked good- Halloween related of course) based on their interests,  You will label the packages with the numbers 13-1, so that your partner knows which days are in which packages. We will start opening the packages on October 19th with the #13 package. Inside would be 13 things. On October 20th you would open the #12 package and inside there should be 12 things. This will go on and on until on October 31st when you will open the #1 package.

Each day can have a "theme" if you want, but this is not mandatory. You could have day 5 be 5 glitter skulls, while day 6 could be a pair of earrings + a set of gift tags + a fabric headband + a tea towel + embossing powder and some handmade paper

Please note:  if you are sending food/accepting food, your package will look like this approximately:
handcrafted 60% = 55 items
store bought 25%= 23 items
food/candy/baked goods: 15% = 13 items (for day 13 most likely)
and, if not,  like this: 70% (64 items) handcrafted and 30% (27 items) store bought

Someone mentioned specifying the sizes and numbers more-

Here are some more rules-

1. I would recommend that your day 13 be candy or treats,

days 12-7 will be "small" items, days 6-4 be "medium" items and days 3-1 be "large" items. Less time intensive things should be made for the larger numbered days and more time intensive projects for the smaller numbered days.

Which breaks down into-
13 candy treats (if you are accepting treats- if not it will be 70 small items)
57 small items
15 medium items
and
6 large items

I don't think she intended it as a rude tone. It's always easy to mistake a person's "tone" in an email because you aren't actually hearing an actual tone or seeing a person's facial expressions. I think she was probably just trying to make her post as short and sweet as possible, considering she attached that other info  Wink.
