I have been asked to make some bags for the little girls that are helping in a wedding.  So I thought I would try a couple of prototype bags from some fat quarters I had hanging around.......

Here's my first attempt - a jordy style messenger bag.

and here is a picture of the inside.

Any feedback/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

That's a very sweet little design.

How old are the girls? Are they going to use these as shoulder bags or across their bodies?

Maybe you could stitch in a little tag with the wedding details (Bride & groom, date) made with iron on transfer or embroidery? That would tie this to the event.

Anyway, I think this is a very thoughful idea.

That is great fabric. Love the bag. I think the tag inside is a good idea too. There are a couple of tutes on here for making customized labels for your stuff.

Here is a link to one I bookmarked.

i think messenger bags are just right for little girls because they can use them (my little cousins love to carry their playthings around in bags like the one you made)

how old are they? i would try to make sure that the bags  close tight enough hat their stuff can't fall out of the bag, and that the kids can close the bags by themselves. (maybe they are too young to be able to handle buttons?)

if they are girly girls you could add some girly stuff like bows.

i like the fabric you chose, you could use the colours of the wedding if you find some nice matching fabric.

i hope i could help
it seems to me that my english is really bad today, but i'm half asleep. sorry.

It's very pretty and I think any little girl would love it.  I can't really tell from the picture, but I think you could add a long strip of velcro across the inside of the flap to close the bag.

That's for all the input.  I think the girls are 4, 6 and 7 or 8 years old.  The purses I make for them will be pastels in fabric that the bride picked out to match her theme.  I love the idea of labels that list bride and groom, wedding date, etc.  I will have to look into that.  I had thought about closures for the bags - will probably use magnetic snaps, or velcro.

Thanks again for looking and giving me some great ideas!
