My place is usually tidier than this.

What fun stuff!  That doll is in my favorites!  (or another one just like it I mean) Cheesy

Love love love the matchbox and the skull face in the frame.

I don't know the real names of things in the language of Mexican Kitsch, but there is one word I do know that sums up everything in this gallery: Terrific! Cheesy

I'm so glad you liked everything!  I was afraid that the skull wouldn't make it in one piece.  My husband painted it, I just mounted and glittered it up. Grin

I think my favorite thing was the little match box. I'd never done one before but I will totally do one again. Grin  This was a great swap and I had a great partner!

This is such a good gallery! That shrine is amazing- great skills.

PaleAngelLex felting isn't that hard. That piece is needle felted and it's not hard, just takes a long time. You just have to poke wool over and over with a special barbed needle.

WOW so i received today from AeonGoddess, and i donno how she was worried about her package.

i mean just look at the wonderful things i got:

we found out we both love lizards, and i also really like pictures made with dots.  it reminds me of the oajaca wooden items as well as the australian aboriginal art... 2 folkloric styles i really admire.

this is already sitting on a table in the living room.  it just needs a picture in it!
i photographed it over the loteria cards so you could see what it would look like with a picture in it... but the loteria paper really had an explanation note on the back of it.  great use, btw!

here is a sugar skull keychain (what nice embroidery!!)

but it's way too pretty to use as a keychain, so she is now guarding my computer.
and a sombrero pincushion, wow!  extremely kitsch and extremely useful all at once!  i think she was on the same wavelength as me when i was making those bag-bags: it's like something somebody's abuelita might have.

but WOW... i was only just this week thinking "i wonder how long i have to be sewing before i could manage to make one of those cool wallets???"  cos i was envying the sewn wallets around here.  and guess what?!  of course Aeon is a real seamstress, so...

the fabrics are perfect, well, the one is painted by her after that research trip to the museum (and it's a beautiful indigenous design of a bird) and the other looks kinda japanese, which is a very favorite look in fabrics, for me.  also, dark colors:  makes a perfect wallet that can stand to actually get used!!

and of course, purple, lots of purple.  (^_^)  i love purple.

speaking of which:

this totally wild shirt (did you design the stencils yourself, Aeon, or can these be bought?!  and where?!)
it's so cool... it's like a Dia de los Muertos Hoedown.  amazing!!  i actually like some country music from both sides of the border, too.
and you needn't have worried about the way some colors of the paint turned out to be transparent... i actually think it looks on purpose even though it wasn't.

oh and somewhere in that first pic, you can see some of my favorite mexican cookies!!
which is cool cos dh always drags me away prudently from that area of the supermarket  Wink

can you imagine that there is even one more item coming?!  i can't, but she says there is.
GRACIAS MIL!!!

i love personal swaps. i'm looking to swap my art or paper crafts for some re-usable fabric snack bags, fabric sandwich wraps, fabric paper towels, glass pendants, ephemera, or art books.

I picked up my fabulous package from Lmcbride today.

The whole lot:

Some pretty hand glittered cards:

Metal ornaments:

A sparkly 3D photo of the virgin:

And last but very not least, this lovely shrine for my dead homies.  It's my favorite. I love it!

Thank you so much for everything!
