my top food surprise was finding out from many asians, that they strongly feel that cheese is not a food.  (of course there are exceptions).

I can't believe, after living in university halls for 4.5 years with 90% Asian international students, that I didn't know that! I know that a lot of people from Asian countries think people from Western countries smell funny, because we consume dairy, but had no idea about cheese!

During winter, a pile of people in our office were eating porridge/oatmeal for breakfast. My Polish colleague commented that "it seems to be the craze around here that people eat really weird things", in reference to the porridge- apparently it's not common in Poland, and he thought it was really weird! He said it was an eastern European thing to not eat porridge, but my Czech friend was eating it, so she proved him wrong

My partner should be receiving soon- a week from UK to US seems about right

Mmmmm, fried pickles...one of the all time best foods ever. Talking about southern foods anyone else ever had double fried french fries? You take french fries and dip them in funnel cake batter and then deep fry them - your chances of a heartattack probably skyrocket but they are suprisingly yummy!

Things I refuse to eat when I visit my filipino family:
Chocolate meat. It's cooked in it's own blood until the blood congeals and looks like chocolate
It's a delicacy to eat half developed duck or quail egg with the fetus inside.
Fish heads (brain, eyes)..I once began to muster the strength to try it and as I reached for the fish head my great aunt made a disgusting slurp sound while sucking the brain out.
None of my family eats monkey brains but the way they obtain it from the monkey is really cruel.

Finding a movie with Swedish dub&sub was surprisingly hard! = I found 1 ^^

I have no idea what that is, but it's good! It tastes kinda salty at first, but then it gets sort of like licorice.

Ooooh, that sounds like salmiak. My boyf is a fiend for salmiak, but I can't quite learn to love it. I do like eating triple-salt licorice though, so he'll just have to accept that that's as far as I'll go. Oh - and apparently salmiak will grow on you, until you're rampaging through lolly shops muttering "Where's the salmiak?!? Where's the salmiak??", taking long drives halfway across the city to visit the IKEA food market and/or ordering it on line. Not, you know, that I've witnessed anyone do this.

YES! Exactly!! Salmiak is awesome, and the most tasty candy-spice (if there are such a thing) here! Haha in elementary school my teacher had this really big jar of salmiak, we were all sitting around and eating from it, after class

But it's true that you get kind of addicted, but you'll have to eat quite a lot for it to happen... A LOT, a lot!
