Okay, I know you said "any style of needlework", but I am kind've self-taught stitch as you go, do I have to follow any kind of known stitches, or keep with a certain kind of stitch to get involved with the challenges?

Nope, no certain stitch to follow. Just do what ya want to . It just has to be stitched in some fashion (embroidery, needlepoint, cross stitch, crewel, your own stitches)

Not a stupid question at all! When the dates come to post, I'll have directions posted. They will look something like this.

One entry per person.

* Start a new thread for your entry and give the subject of the thread a unique title so voters can remember what it was at a glance when they vote. Do NOT POST YOUR PROJECT ON THIS THREAD.

* Post pictures of "making of" the project, if you've got them.

* If your project was inspired by something else you've seen someone do, please give credit.

I've got my thinking cap on, but may have an idea for this too!  IT will be my first "challenge" so hopefully I can get it done by the deadline!

It's a shame I only saw this after coming home from my parent's. My grandma showed me a sampler embroidered by my mom back in the 60's. It's... well, the best I can say is that it's finished. I love the unsure hand, the hesitant stitches, and her visible hate of needlework, that made her finish her homewordk as quickly as possible.

I wanted to clean it up a bit (bad storage) and maybe give the sampler a modern traetment, maybe adding a few stitches of my own... it's really a shame I left it 500 km from here. Maybe I'll ask my grandma to send it to me...

I'd really love to have some embroidery my mom did, alongside with my own. And I still have some amazing embroidery done by my great-grand-mother. I can't believe she was that gifted ! It was for a potwarmer, but she died before she could sew it together, so now I have only the embroidery, in a weird shape. I'm never ever going to throw those piece away, but I have to think of something to display them.

(Loora, stop babbling and just say how much this project inspires you).

My idea was decent,  but my materials are not up to snuff and I can't do it justice in the time left!
