My boyfriend's dad has decided that he want to throw a gross-food party for the sole purpose of making a recipe he has for Beef Cookies.
Whatever Beef Cookies are.

So, if you were coming, what would you bring?

Does it have to be food that looks gross but is actually edible?  Or food that no one would touch with a ten-foot pole (like DURIAN!)  We had a Halloween party one time where we made food that was tasty but looked disgusting.  I can understand the humor in serving disgusting food at a party, but it kinda seems like a waste of money to lay out a bunch of food that no one wants to eat!  Plus, you'd have to put out some food that people would want to eat, or else it's just mean!

someone bought us the 'mr.boston bartending guide' for christmas and there is a mixed drink in there that involves: warm beef boulion, worcheshire sauce, and vodka...
i can't begin to imagine how disgusting this might be, but you could try it.
cheers.

I bought this hilarious book called "the Gallery of Regrettable Food"
http://www.needcoffee.com/html/lit/wordbombs/gallery.htm

It has some of the most disgusting foods from the fifties, like meaty Jello -molds and Boiled Cow Elbow with Plaid sauce.
It is not a cookbook, but you could get some great ideas, or at least have the book around to look at.

It's so hilarious... great coffee table book.

I have that book too!  I  plan to make transfers out of some of the pictures and decoupage them onto plates, make my cooking look even that much better!

I love the Gallery of Regrettable Food!  Before it was a book, it was part of James Lileks' hilarious website.
http://www.lileks.com/institute/index.html

This website makes me laugh until tears run down my face.  I love the orphanage of cast-off mascots.  The Dayalets.  The Motel -- oh, it's all awesome.

I have a bunch of old cookbooks with recipes similar to those.  One that my husband and I talk about all the time is "Ring Around the Tuna" from the "Joys of Jell-O" booklet.  It involves lime jello and carrots and vinegar and tuna and more...  There is this stuff my dad's family used to make that was an aspic salad, made with jello, mayonnaise, raw veggies, a can of tomato soup, and I don't know what else.  It always looked like congealed barf to me.

I'll have to look in my booklets at home and see if I can pass along any real winners.
