calling all spinners in central texas (san antonio, austin, kerrville, fredericksburg, boerne, bandera, etc)!!! do you fawn *and drool* over those amazing "art" yarns, all the while wondering how on earth can YOU make them? do you ever wish you could take your spinning to new heights? have you ever considered taking an art yarn workshop but can't find one in this area???

here's your chance!! i need to gauge interest in a handspinning art yarn workshop in the area with jacey boggs from insubordiknit, check out her blog/website for her AMAZING WORK!!!*

for those interested, this would be a two day workshop detailing handspinning techniques such as: thick and thin yarn, twists/loops, knots/stacks, coils, racing stripe, auto wrap, foreign objects, supercoils, cocoons, halos, beehives, corespinning and more with an emphasis on making those yarns BALANCED and STABLE!!! art yarn that is balanced?? yes it's true! that alone is worth the price of admission!!!

we would need around 10 people willing to learn, the exact area is still open for discussion. if there are many people wishing to take the class, we will probably pick a central location so it's easy for everybody to get to! so let me know if you're interested so we can start planning soon!

for more information about the workshop, including pricing and reviews, go to the insubordinate website!!

also, feel free to pm me if you have any questions!!

I am VERY, VERY interested. I live in DFW so for me, San Antonio is really far. But, for something like this I can be flexible. I'll keep following this and would appreciate any updates through Craftster too. Smiley

jacey is pretty booked up until may or later of 2010.  the price ranges from about $160-$200 (depending on such variables as price of venue, etc.) the workshop lasts two days, but you can take only one day, and the prices vary accordingly. again, for more details check out jacey's [urlhttp://www.insubordiknit.com/workshops]workshop page on her website[/url]!

we haven't pegged any other info down because, we need to get about 10 people to sign up. so if you know anyone who would like to come, send them here so we can get an idea of how many people are interested. SEND THE WORD OUT!!!!

sewmamalady (and anyone else in the dallas/fort worth region): jacey did say that most of her requests are for DFW and she may consider doing a workshop there, too.

the reason we're trying to set one up a little further south is because there isn't much in the way of cool fiber stuff down here (shops, shows, classes, etc), everyone goes to DFW!!! we can also start a running list of who wants to do a workshop in your area. just leave a reply here, including what city you live in and which region you are closest to: dallas/forth worth or san antonio. that way i can start making lists of who wants to come and which region you'd like to take the class.

I would most definitely be interested!  I actually live in Boulder, CO, but might be moving back to Austin in May 2010.  Regardless, my sister lives there and any excuse to go visit is a good one.  Smiley

would everybody be willing to do the workshop in fredericksburg? it's about an hour west of san antonio. it's a really beautiful little town, lots of charm. it's german, VERY german, has a lot of historical sites there, even the national museum of the pacific war (WWll). anyways, my stepmother works at a few of the really amazing B&B's around there and i was thinking it would be AMAZING to do the class there!! there are big houses and little houses, so there's plenty of room to stay on location *plus MANY other hotels in fredericksburg* theres a pool, barn, even llamas!! i just don't know how far people are willing to travel. but if you've never been to fredericksburg, you would be in for a real treat!!!

Heck, I would! I don't mind, I would just need to know when ahead of time so I could properly plan, but it sounds good to me!

Ooooh, I love Fredricksburg.  I especially love that little tucked-away herb farm that's hidden there somewhere.  Smiley

Yep, count me in!

hey, bet you guys though i'd forgotten about you, eh? unfortunately i had to scrap the fredericksburg plans due to some unexpected changes. BUT, i do have exciting news!!! we have booked the class for april 10th and 11th, 2010!! it will be in boerne, texas in the cypress meeting room at tapatio springs, right outside of san antonio.

here's what jacey has put on her website about it:

San Antonio, TX:
April 10th and 11th, 2010, 10am-5pm-ish
with a short break for lunch (pack it or buy it)
located at the gorgeous Tapatio Resort
$175 for the whole weekend, includes all supplies (except for whats listed above)
$100 for one day, includes all supplies (except for whats listed above).
20 spots available. If you want to stay at the resort, its around $100 a night, unless we get 7+ rooms, then its cheaper. So when you register, let me know if youre interested in possibly staying.

Right now Im taking $25 deposits to hold your spot and in Jan. Ill open up registration for full payments. Youll receive a detailed e-mail shortly after purchase and then a month or so before the workshop with more details than you could humanly need.

go to http://www.insubordiknit.com/workshops to see this original text, to hold a spot, or if you have any questions, please feel free to pm me here on craftster or email jacey through her website!!

see you in april 2010!!
