So my boyfriend and I are going as Jack and Meg White for Halloween:

I'm going to get us suits and hats from the thrift store, but then there's the buttons. It's about 13,000 of them....any ideas as to where I can find these for a reasonable price?

(I didn't really know where to post something like this, so I'm do apologize if this is in the wrong place)

could you use a rubber stamp and paint?  or would that not  be right?

cost effective and no tedious sewing/gluing

would sequins work in place of buttons? they'd be cheaper and easier to come by such large quantities

I looked at using pailettes, the only catch is that they'd have to be a very matte finish, at the risk of looking too gaudy. Although I suppose I could just paint them.....hmmmm

They have 8 lots, 200 pieces each. Cost is $2.90 per unit, and if you buy more than one they discount shipping.
I would say that this is your best bet.

I found these at Cleaner Supply.

Just wondering if you plan on sewing all of them on?

Is there any reason you are doing this certain outfit other than to show off your button sewing/gluing skills?

Personally it would be a letdown for me if I sewed all those buttons on, then no one recognized who I was supposed to be. Like I would "get" a White Stripes outfit more, say if you had a white dress and red tights and a pair of drumsticks and he had a red shirt, white pants, and a guitar. The hair and general look also sell the image.
