Crochet Motif Swap- Scavenger Hunt Style?

So, in the first round of the Amazing Crochet Motif Swap (here's the gallery), MareMare suggested that we do it as a scavenger hunt, with categories that the motifs need to fit into. She suggested a few categories:

Oh, and I totally hope this becomes a frequent swap, I just had an idea that it would be really cool to maybe combine it with the scavenger hunt type swap?? Where there are a couple categories to fulfill?

Like~
1. 1 motif is a flower
2. 1 motif has at least 3 colors
3. 1 motif uses ____ stitch  (front post double crochet ,puff, double triple crochet, bouliion)
4. 1 motif is lacy
5. 1 motif is tiny (less than 3 inches)
6. 1 motif is worked _________ (diagonally, in the round, in rows)
7. sender's choice

Something like that? It's fun to randomly pick them all out, just thinking it might be fun to have a bit of a challenge too, especially if we did this every couple months? I had a blast and it totally fits into my schedule to have this kind of on the go project!

Anyone else interested? Do you have suggestions for any other themes?

haha, I would probably do granny daughter for the tiny motif.

Unfortunately, no matter how you do this round I am out.  Waaay too much on my plate right now.  I'll have fun watching though.

I'm in! I'm glad craftaddchick reminded me I volunteered to organize 'cause I had spaced it lol! Also, do people have suggestions for the specific stiches? I love bobbles, or maybe a "trim" like crab stitch (aka reverse sc) or picot?

I have some ideas that could be considered to be on the "advanced" end of things, but I think that if we arranged it that you wouldn't *have* to do all of them then it would be ok.  Like, have a list of different things and have  requirement of at least 5 motifs, or something.

Anyhow, some ideas:

-broomstick lace
-tunisian crochet
-crochet-on-the-double
-hairpin lace
-a motif you've never made before / always wanted to try
-a motif made up of smaller motifs (I'm thinking Granny's Daughters or Yo-yos or the like)
- an asymmetrical motif


Er, ok, that's all I've got right now.  Just brainstorming ^_^

And, MareMare, I'm not sure if I've done bobbles, so that could be a fun one to stick in there.

How about an animal-themed motif? It wouldn't necessarily have to have an animal in it (like zebra striped or something). I love, love, love the frog motif that was made in the last round, and I'll be making one for myself, but other animal blocks could be fun, too!

I like the idea of choosing from a list of things. If there were a bunch of categories and we had to choose at least 5 (for example) could make it easier for any beginner crocheters.

I'll have to think of some other ideas...

Here's another idea or two:

An "ethnic" motif. For example, I'm of Irish (25%), Scottish (25%), Lithuanian (25%), and Heinz 57 (25%... but probably a mix of English, Irish, Scottish and who knows what else... Gramps was from Maine from way back) descent. So, a shamrock, or a "plaid" motif, or a flag motif... or a ketchup bottle

One done in complimentary colors? Or contrasting colors? I forget  how the color wheel works... Like orange/blue, red/green, yellow/purple. Or one that is done tone on tone (shades of pink, or shades of blue, etc.).

Not a chance of twisting my arm this time, sorry.  I'm already at the edge of insanity, I don't want go over it.  Maybe if there is one in August or September.

I LOVE the idea of 10 or 15 items and then you pick 5 (*starts to think all scavenger hunts should be this way*)  That allows those of us who are infinite beginners a chance to participate (again, I won't be in this round, but maybe future ones).  Some of these stitches sound really scary. 

I am really going to have fun watching the gallery.
