Nice!  I love that you used a canvas.  That is so much easier to stitch through, than if you have to line up with a board you drilled through, or stitch and not hit the board.  Thanks for sharing that.

Great tute!  Really cute board!  I have tip for you, though...  These memo boards will actuall hold things better (i.e. bigger, heavier things) if you stitch the buttons on.  If you aren't using the canvas, then you can glue the ribbon down at all the intersections.  Just make sure you glue the top ribbon to the botom ribbon, as well as gluing the bottom ribbon to the board.  Stitching is better though, it s more secure, and gets the top ribbon, bottom ribbon, and button all in one fell swoop.

I have a huge canvas I rescued from the trash and was wondering what I was going to do with it.  This is it!  Thanks for the great tute!

Thank you so much for posting this tutorial! My mother had given me a french memo board, but I hated the fabric and ribbon color. I followed your instructions - first removing the original ribbon and covered the existing board with velvet burnt-orange fabric that matched my curtains. I used black velvet ribbon and black buttons, and it turned out great. Thanks again! I couldn't have done it without your tute! Just hit - "this rocks"!

Here's the finished project.
