My 5-year-old son has his first loose tooth. While I'm not entirely sure I'm ready for him to be old enough to loose his baby teeth, I decided to honor this occasion by making him a proper tooth pillow. I looked to the intrawebs for inspiration and they did not disappoint. I found this adorable door-hanger version by Larissa at mmmcrafts. I showed it to my son, whose eyes immediately went to her earlier "tooth officer" version. I attempted to convince him he wanted a tooth pirate (how cute would that be?) but his decision was made. Tooth officer or bust.

I used Larissa's pattern and instructions as well as some clip art for hat and badge patterns. Everything is made from felt except for the ribbon used for hanging. I embellished the hat, belt, and badge with embroidery thread. The eyes (buttons) are sewn on but everything else is glued.

In case you were wondering, the mouth is a pocket and that's where the tooth goes! The mouth is my son's favorite part. Thanks for looking!

The world is a mess and I just need to rule it.
