I've been looking for a wedding dress for myself that had that vintage feel and just figured I was going to have to go for something kind of rockabilly since I don't have a typical figure. But this is GORGEOUS and you've given me wonderful ideas.
Thanks so much for posting this!
You've done an awesome job, your friend is a lucky girl to have had you there!

WOW If I get married to my boyfriend of 6 1/2 years someday I have to have a dress as beautiful as that.

You don't have to answer if you don't want to, but I was wondering about how much it cost approx for the materials for a dress like this?  And how many hours it took approx?  You don't have to answer that if you don't want to.

Very beautiful dress!

This dress actually cost very little. I think about 200 (GBP) for the materials. You could def do it for less depending on the fabric. I used silk dupion and bridal lace which are not cheap.
Time wise, hmmm I'm not sure, I didn't keep track, it really was a labour of love. I spent a lot of time on the toile, it was really important to get the fit right. I think maybe if I added up all the time I spent on it, and imagined I'd worked solid 6 hour days, it took about a week.

Thanks for all the lovely comments. And thanks to Caroline for linking back to my blog and the photos of the wedding. Personal circumstances have meant I've not been on Craftster in a while.

Love Jeanette
