Hello again.  I found a another scarf that I want to knit with a yarn that's almost exactly the same as the one this is made out of.  Do you know how to make that large circle in the diamonds and are those wide spaces just made with bigger needles?

(I know I'm all over the place with what I want to do, sorry)

It looks like the longer stitches can be done in a drop stitch pattern - knit one row, wrapping the yarn around the needle twice in each stitch, then on the next row, drop the extra wrap. The smaller circles around the large 'hole' are regular yarn overs. I'm not certain how you could get that large a hole unless you decrease several sts, yo several times, dec over several again. Then on the next row you'd knit into each of the extra yarnover. Maybe.
