My friend was joking about owning her own Light Saber. So I figured it would be funny and unexpected if I made her one. I thought I'd get a flashlight and maybe some colored, flexible plastic. I was wondering, though, what kind of plastic I should get and where I should get it. Had anyone got any ideas?

Hmm.. I know Walmart actually sells the lil kiddies sabers.  Heh.  Um... a Christmas wrapping paper, tube?  That would be pretty dark tho.. hmmmm...  an old vacuum attachment tube?  Some sort of thin plexi, you could roll?

This is an expensive .. but crazy real looking one.. LOL

I bought a light saber (though I've never seen the movie) from Wal-Mart for about $8.

I was thinking vinyl, but it would be too flexible, i think...

Maybe you can find a really cheap shower curtain rod that's clear and lightweight? Or not... lol

it would probably just be cheaper and easier to buy one, try walmart or toys-r-us, etc.  then maybe you could personalize it, add some rhinestones, etc.

I ditto JodiJean... the customizing would be the neato part Wink

They are actually really easy to make, heres one a friend of mine built in less then a week with stuff he found in a garage and some (strong) glue

He just adds a blade by slipping a maglight solitare into the top and attaching a plastic blade we stole from a 8$ Zellers saber.

Thanks everyone! I think I'll just go the non-crafty way with this. I didn't know they actually sold them. I mean, it makes sense that they do, but the thought never crossed my mind. Wow. Look what too much craftster can do to you! Next I'll be making my own shoes or something... and then I'll be shocked and amazed when I disocover that they actually SELL shoes in STORES.

And hey, if you're going to the circus anytime soon...
They usually sell those retractable (sp?) ones there with the different colored pieces and you sorta flick your wrist and it turns into a light saber! (I know you all know what I'm talking about).
