Hello! My name is Amanda, and I am a Doctor Who addict.
(waits as everyone says Hello).

I recently created proof of my addiction/obsession/problem when I had bought a new macbook. I wanted immediately to make a cover for it. So I did.

The pattern is my own, although basic guidelines (like how many stitches to cast on and how long to knit) came from a free pattern on Ravelry.

This is my first attempt at felting anything and the 'windows' felted very poorly.

The lining is a cotton from Joann's. I sewed the zipper on the lining pieces separately, then I sewed the "spine" last.  The felted exterior was sewn on by hand with a backstitch next to the zipper.

I 'embroidered' the letters on, using a lazy-daisy tacked down in a few places to keep the rounded letters open. Then I needlefelted them down, and thinned them from the original bulky-yarn width.

The Doctor was needlefelted freehand. ^^ I did use a reference for DT's profile though.

Thank you for visiting with me during this meeting of Whovians Anonymous.

Hello Amanda.
Wink

Very awesome. I have to say my favorite part is the silhouette! It's perfect. Grin (And the lining is great.)

Wonderful job!

OMG I was just asking my bf if he wanted to watch Dr. Who. He was like, not now. So then I decided to go on Craftster.

LOOKIE WHAT WAS ON THE FRONT PAGE :-)

I dig it. I dig it good. Well done. Or, as the Doctor would say, "Fantastic!!"

Looks great, you really did a good job.  Just wanted to say that white doesn't felt well in general.  It's because it tends to be bleached or otherwise treated to get it to look that, well, white.  Next time you might want to test the white you get before trying to felt it.  I know there are whites out there that are feltable though.  My mom loves Dr. Who and she would love to have this.

I had heard that about whites and this was actually called 'natural', which I had assumed meant 'not bleached'. Guess I was wrong ^^

Wow! I want one!  Grin I agree that the best detail is the silhouette; can't believe you managed to make it look so much like DT! You'll make a lot of friends carrying that around, for sure.

It's so clever. I really love it (Weeps with happiness for a moment then back to reality) I am going to miss David so much.

The whole think is amazing. You need to send a picture of it to the bbc or something.

Stromas: I'm a new fan (as recently as November 2008), so hearing that before I even finished watching the seasons that Tennant was leaving... I feel jipped. I got all my DT!Doctor condensed, instead of wonderfully prolonged over the years. Ah well, that's what netflix is for, yeah?

Sorry no one has said it yet.... It's a pity it's not bigger on the inside.
@ seamshistoric nothing wrong with getting all your David in one measures. I really don't like the look/style of the new guy. I give him one maybe two episodes and if I don't like well that's the end of doctor who for me. (other than re-watching all my DVDs.

I've heard high praise for Matt Smith in some of his other works. I don't think I'll stop watching who because of him; if a single solitary actor was enough to put me off who, I'd've stopped watching with Freema Agyeman. That character was helluva annoying with her idolization puppy love. At any rate, even if he isn't good as the Doctor, there will always be someone else after him.

I totality know what you mean with Freema Agyeman (But at least after that we had Catherine Tate who's purely plutonic rendition of the assistant was just magical to watch). At the end of the day she was just a assistant It takes a lot more to pull off being the Doctor I do feel a little sorry for Matt Smith as he has a lot to follow. David was lucky as he only had to follow one season after Chris (Who I thought was fantastic). Part of me hoped David would of been followed by the likes of James Nesbitt, James Mcavoy Or even some one like Stephen Fry.  Better stop there before it becomes a debate. I really want this laptop cover.

I LOVE THIS IT IS AMAZING AND YOU ARE AMAZING FOR MAKING IT.

I just watched a Torchwood/Doctor marathon yesterday. Space played Children Of Earth in full, followed by Waters of Mars and End of Time. There was something else but after a five part mini-series I needed to get off of the couch for a while.

I didn't see these when it was first posted, but I agree with all the comments.  This is fantastic!  I didn't care for Matt Smith when he first came on, but he has grown on me.  Looking forward to the new Doctor, though I still miss David Tennant.

I. Love. This.

I think it's one of the best TARDIS inspired designs I've see, I just love the added touch of the doctor in the window.  Fantastic work!
