This was made from neon green and black duct tape; the texture is really odd, but cool. I finished it in an hour, triumphant with a scissors battle scar on my finger.

It didn't take long at all; probably about an hour. Duct tape is always fun because even if something looks complex, it's easy as hell. This one is just strips of spikes going up the purse.

That's impressive that it only took in hour.   It really looks like it at least took a few days or something.  I absolutely love how the spikes look.

I'll try to explain how to do it, but tell me if I make it too confusing: first, make the base of the purse (I did the whole base with green tape). If you don't know how to make sheets of duct tape, go to http://www.3m.com/intl/CA/english/centres/home_leisure/duct_tape/dt_wallet.html and read the first 3 steps. When you're done, the purse should be the shape you want, just without spikes. To put the spikes on, make a sheet of duct tape that is only one strip long and cut spikes from it. Make a lot of spikes from each of your colors. Then, rip a strip of tape that is as long as your purse is wide. Arrange your spikes on the strip like this:

Keep making these strips and add them to the purse going from the bottom up. This is REALLY important. If one spot looks too black or too green, don't be afraid to yank some spikes out and replace with the other color. I hope that helps! Just tell me if you need something clarified.

Awesome! Pink and black was my second choice! You'll have to tell me how it goes (and maybe post a picture; I'd love to see what you've done with the idea.) Anything can be accomplished with duct tape  Wink Grin

i just made my first duct tape bag last night. i've made wallets and flip-flop type shoes but that was my first bag. now i definately have to go try this one. only I'm almost out of the black/purple/green tape i bought a while ago. and i have pink and white now to make a wallet for my oh-so-pink sister. and for some reason.. i'm not able to picture pink and white spikes Wink

absolutely love it though. awesome job.

That's so cool!! I never knew about the joys of duct tape, I just literally thought that it was for, you know, sticking doors with. O no - never again shall I waste it on doors!

Question: is the bag strong??? Will it break if I use it as a schoolbag & carry my german, maths and science textbooks in it?? I have no idea...I am new to the concept...

I, ashamedly, have no idea where to get coloured duct tape here (england.) I know they do grey and possible black in B&Q...Can someone help me, PLEASE???

Reply in post or preferably send me a message as I may not come here again.

Thanks - and once again, that's so cool!!  Grin Grin Grin

This is so cool.  I've never made anything with duct tape.  But I'm going to be trying so and this will definately be one of my first creations.

Wow! I love the pink! It's great to see what you've done with the idea; I actually like the horizontal bag better than the vertical one I made. I'm thinking of making a thick bracelet like this soon.

whew so I know this is an old post but just thought I'd say that your bag will *definately* hold any books you need. You might want to reinforce the strap with two or three hand stiches just to be on the safe side.. but other than that you should't have any problems Smiley

Whoa! That bag is so completely awesome. Somehow I can never have the patience for ducttape bags but I can spend multiple hours/days/weeks on other things. I really hope to see more cool bags like that around though.
