from crap-room to craft-room!! (tons o' pics)

first, i must say, that this was completely and totally inspired by crafty intentions' room overhaul, which can be admired by clicking here:

i borrowed many of her ideas and made them work in my small space. that being said:
here's a preview (so the picture that pops up is purty instead of the wretched before that you are about to see):


now brace yourself for the befores. i'm very embarrassed to be posting these because my house is usually not nearly this messy, but once i decided to redo the room, everything kind of went to hell in a handbasket. it really became a dumping ground. ugh...the closet has always been horrible though. i will admit to that one...anyway, here goes:

yes, things did literally tumble out of the closet when i opened it:


now for the glorious AFTER:








i removed the closet doors and put up a curtain instead:




on the fabric shelves, i've got all my pattern boxes hanging out along with some room to grow:




and thanks to my wonderful hubby for hanging all of these things for me:

Agreed.  I'm feeling lucky that soon I'll have my own desk and cabinet in the corner of the dining room (especially since BF has taken over the entire garage as his jam room )

Did you invent the hanging racks with the scissors and cups, or is it something one might be able to find somewhere and purchase?  Your room is absolutely gorgeous.  I would be hard pressed to ever come out of there!

VERY NICE!  I have to ask though, is the pic that shows the sewing machine side and the computer side a morphed picture or are my eyes playing tricks on me?  It looks a little wonky, but I can't tell for sure!   My camera does this, that's the only reason I thought of it.  The room is really awesome, btw.  I am in the process of organizing my craft room and this inspires me to keep going!

I have those hanging thingies! You can buy them at IKEA. I feel like a bonehead, though, as it never occurred to me to hand my shears from them. lol

Oooh I'm so jealous!  I can't wait to own a house so I can have a craft room. I've been contemplating turning the corner of my bedroom where I store most of my crap into a crafty corner with shelves and the whole works.  You've inspired me!

ha! sorry about your eyes. it's not you! i did a quick composite in photoshop since i couldn't get far enough back to get any kind of decent shot of that side of the room.

they are from ikea, as is most of the furniture.
if you search "bygel" you should be able to find the hooks, bars, and containers since they are all part of a system together.
