This year, my birthday and a local anime convention fell on the same weekend. Thus, as my present, my mom made me this... I'm sharing with everyone in her name because I think she did a great job:

references here: http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images?p=rider+fate+stay+night&fr=yfp-t-501&toggle=1&cop=mss&ei=UTF-8

my version (photo credit to C. Hoey):

a detail of the blindfold: (I really couldn't see... it was frustrating sometimes, but accurate to the character  Cheesy )

the weapons: the chain was taken off for the convention (you can see a little of it in the image above). My dad actually carved the entire top portion, then my mom and I finished the rest.

This post is already pretty long... buuut... here's the story of the costume for anyone interested: I noticed there were few Rider cosplayers out there, and the costumes I had seen were not very well made. It doesn't look like a complicated costume so I wanted someone to do it justice. Thus I picked it and asked my mom if she would help. We discovered it's a lot more complicated than it looks, and she ended up making most of it because she's a much more experienced sewer than I am. It was worth the trouble since I got a lot of compliments/photos/hugs at the convention.
(if you'd like to see larger images, they are in my Craftster gallery)

Thanks for looking!

My mom is a total perfectionist. I had to convince her the costume was awesome because she kept picking on tiny imperfections. She had to make sure everything was cleanly done! definitely hooray  Smiley
