Is the tree attached to the stone?  Did you drill a hole in the stone?  This has always dumbfounded me since I have never seen one 'in real life'.  Simply lovely.

The tree is carefully glued to the rock with E-6000 and the rock is glued to the ornament with hot glue (because I don't have a good method for holding the rock to the ornament long enough for the glue to set). I don't even own a drill, so there are no holes Tongue

I would like to learn too.  Is there a tutorial that anyone knows of?

I don't know of any tutorials. I kinda make it up as I go. I wish I could write a tutorial, but I think that wouldn't work out too well because 1) I often don't use a pattern at all and do the whole thing by feel, as I did for this one and 2) There would be too many steps to type out and I'm just not that great at describing things in words. Sad However, if anyone is near or in Columbus, Ohio, I do teach classes.

Speaking of classes, doing this project inspired a class I'll be offering at my local bead store this fall/winter! It's the same idea, but winter themed with swarovski crystals as the "leaves," white sand acting as "snow" on the rock and roots, and thin ribbon wrapped around the sides to hide the seam of the ornament (I wish I'd thought to do that for your tree, pheonix!). So here's a picture of my winter ornament!

Also, here's another picture of the PFD's tree, just at a different angle (I had a problem with glares too!):

no no no... there are seams. The ornament breaks apart in the middle. When I took a picture, I did it straight on the front so that you can't see the seams at all, and in the winter one, I put white ribbon on top of the seams so that they are completely invisible. No magic, I promise! Smiley
