This isn't my handy work, but it's my husband's. We both really like Dr. Seuss & I insisted that we not buy a bunch of Dr. Seuss stuff, but make a mural instead. He drew this mural using an overhead projector & painted it. He did it almost 2 years ago before our son was born & pretty soon he'll be doing a "big boy" room for him when our new baby arrives.

This is nailed to the door as you enter the nursery...

C & C welcome! Also, any ideas for the "big boy" room?? Hubby doesn't want another Seuss room Sad

If I thought my husband would go for it I would have suggested it for our room!  Grin

This is such a fun room!  I LOVE themed rooms.  As for the big boy room, I would suggest a jungle or underwater theme.  I had a friend paint her kids room like the inside of a submarine.  Each window/ port hole had a different underwater scene.  Good luck and keep us posted!

what a fab room Smiley

Along the lines of a previous idea - under the sea!! We did this in my sons room when he hit the big boy stage BUT the twist was that we painted one wall blue, in a swirly kinda way with just a few touches of white and darker blues. It was super subtle but really kinda gave it some depth. THEN we invited all our friends over (no kids) told them to wear some ratty old clothing and then they each painted one under water thing each. The people who felt they were not artistic did rocks at the bottom of the sea and things like kelp and "easy" stuff like that. My other more ambitious friends did a merboy (she even made him look like my son) and lots of colorful fish. I borrowed a ton of childrens books at the library in ocean and water themes so people could use them for ideas! It made for a really special mural and an amazing party. We had snacks and drinks downstairs so that people could take turns working on the mural...there wasnt really enough room for everyone to be painting at the same time. I wish I had  a picture to post with it...but alas I cant seem to find a single one.

Best of luck Smiley

That is awesome!  I agree with the underwater theme.  Our eye doctor has a gorgeous underwater mural in his office.  It has dolphins, jellyfish, manta rays, puffer fish, clown fish, ect.  It is so beautiful just to sit and look at.

This is so wonderful. I love Dr. Suess!
As soon as soon as I have my own house I want to give my daughter a Where The Wild Things Are room.  That's more big boy, if you think about it. They are monsters, after all.

Oh I love overhead projectors!! you can do such great things with them Smiley

For the Big Boy Room I saw this awhile back and bookmarked it I love it so much, but it would really only be cool if your son actually liked pirates and underwateryness...
