Why yes I have already started on Christmas gifts Smiley This bag is for my mom. It ended up much larger than expected but I suppose that is what I get for just winging it. I really wish I had good habits with writing down patterns as I go but I did not for this one.

That is the bag just laying flat.

I lined the pocket with a satin fabric and the top of the pocket is lined with brown lace.

The inside of the purse is just plain beige cotton and I used bias tape around the top edge in teal. The strap is a braid of the tan and outer fabric.

And just to get a feel for how large the bag is. She lives in San Diego so I suppose if it is too large as a purse then you can never have enough beach bags Smiley

Let me know what you think! Thanks!

It's never too early to start on Christmas gifts! I've been trying to figure out what kind of purse to make my mom for her birthday, she's JUST started carrying a real purse (she was stuck in the fanny-pack days, and still tells me how much she misses hers and how much a hassel a purse is 'cause she carries so much), maybe she'll like one like this. Hm.

Yours is totally cute, and I love the print. I think your mom's going to love it Cheesy

The fabric is really cool...its actually not printed its sort of like knitted that way. I got it at Wal Mart for $2 a yard which makes it even better!

I bought 2 yrds and still have some left over. I would guesstimate about a yrd and a half total. The satin is just scrap I had and the inside is a tan sheet I cut up.

that's awesome! :]!

I wish our Wal Mart had cool fabric like that. For some reason, they're re-doing that whole department and almost none of it is put out. :/ Hopefully they get it done soon.
