This year my daughters school did the musical Willy Wonks Jr.  Needless to say I volunteered to be in charge of designing the costumes (ALL 60some of them) The Drama program is not a program that is in the schools budget and all the money for it has to be raised by the kids and the parents. The PTA was wonderful and paid for the licencing and scripts.  Everything else that went into the production was totally on a VOLUNTEER basis, including, the Director, Assistant Director, music teacher, props, scenery, so on and so on.... I designed and made all 60some costumes for about $1000 and hours and hours worth of work  ............and with out any further aduuuuuuuuuuuu.... here are some

oompa loompas (there were 26 of them)

Willy Wonka

Dancing Cooks

Veruca and Mr.Salt....the back of the squirrels

and the squirrels taking veruca away

Mike and Mrs. Teavee

An oompa loompa with mike after he shrank.....I made a GI Joe doll a costume to match Mikes

Mike and Mrs. Teavee....Violet and Mrs. Beauregarde

Violet and Mrs. Beaugregarde.... with Phineous AND Trout, we cast two reporters

Augusta and Mrs. Gloop.... we cast a girl for this part hence the Augusta and not Augustus

AND Charlie with Grandpa Joe and Willy Wonka in the end when the factory was given to Charlie

and here I am doing a fitting with one of the Oompa Loompas

It was a lot of work, waaaayyyyyy worth it for the kids, and I would do it all over again.....5 months worth of designing, planning and sewing...

would love to hear what you think!!!!

Oh wow!  That is a LOT of costuming.  Great work!  I love how you didn't just copy the costumes from either of the movies and did your own thing!

You are incredible.  Your daughter's school is so lucky to have you!  Most of the professional costume designers I know couldn't do 60 costumes for $1000.  The Oompa Loompa costumes are hilarious.
