Garage Sale Desk - Makeover

I desperately needed a desk for my new apartment.

I found this desk at a garage sale for $5. It was poorly painted a disgusting BLACK color and didn't have knobs. (I didn't realize I should take before pics for craftster until I'd already started the paint stripping process).

Underneath the black paint was RED! Which was even more intolerable. (You can see the black on the inside of the drawers)



I got some fantastic recycled house paint at the Re-Store for $3.



Found beautiful knobs at the Re-Store for $5.



Total for the desk (including a few materials) $20 -- and aprox 10 hours of work.

That looks waaaay better than the red, and probably a whole lot better than the black, too.  Gotta love those garage sale finds.

Those big old desks are lovely, and so much more sturdy than anything you can buy these days. You did a great job giving it a facelift.  Those knobs are awesome!
I have yet to visit my local Re-Store. I never thought to check for knobs!

I love the drawer pulls on this, it looks great.
