I made these cute little dresses/tunics for my friend's baby Emma.  She said she wanted some thing 'beachy' well, she got 'fishie' instead! They are sized 3 - 6 months.  I got the pattern here http://madebypetchy.blogspot.com/2008/06/free-pattern-baby-dresstunic.html.

I bought the fabric for $1.50 a yard and used maybe half a yard each. So with the fabric and the bias tape - each dress cost me $2.25 to make.

Cute!  I think fishies are perfect for the beach. Smiley

very soft looking!  Thanks for the link!

What kind of bias tape did you use?  Did you make/find a knit bias tape?  My store-bought stuff is always so stiff - I've never thought to look to see if they make a soft knit tape.

The blue dress is regular quilting cotton and the other is almost like a sheer guaze like curtain material.  I used store bought double fold bias tape.  I never worked with it before, and it was stiff, but it was easy to work with like that.  I think it will soften after washing.  There is always the blanket binding that is silky. ooOOo *Idea* lol.

Those are sweet and adorable and your friend is quite lucky, if I may say so. I really like the first fabric, too.
