I haven't done watercolors in a long- long-LONG!!!! time- so I picked up some watercolor pencils 'cause someone elsewhere recommended them as a gradual transition back to watercolors. OMG!! I am loving them- great control of color-

I love the colors in the sunset #3, but my favorite is the barren tree.  Smiley

I really like these. I've also been playing with watercolour pencil but I'm not getting that good effects from them - I think that might be partly due to the fact i haven't got any proper watercolour paper (I really need to go and get some) and also I've never used watercolours in any shape or form before. What kind of brush are you using by the way?

Thank you all for the great comments- it has been so long since i did watercolors- I love them.
Angelicus- I use a round No. 1 for detailing and a no. 2 for most of the fill. You need tiny brushes for tiny canvases. you definitely need watercolor paper for best results. I generally look for inexpensive pads on sale at the craft stores- at least 100 lb cold press paper. Generally real watercoloist shoot for a 120 to 140 weight cold press paper. As I am using the pencils and don't have to wet the paper first I don't need the paper to be that thick- so 100 lb is fine for me.
