I'm going camping in the Mendocino Woodlands (Northern California) at the end of the month and it can get downright cold (40s F) at night.  Instead of carrying around a blanket, I decided to make a cloak out of microfleece with a pretty jacquard edging:

Six yards of fleece and 12 of the jacquard went into the making of.  The design comes from Antimony and Lace: http://www.gothfashion.info/circlecloak.php

Unfortunately blurry detail shot:

Here's the jacquard I used:

I like that and thank you for the link. I'm trying to learn some simple things to make for the dolls and myself one day.

Thanks all!  Not only did I get exactly what I wanted, but it wasn't super expensive to make, $32 for the jacquard, the fleece was on sale for $5 a yard, and a crapload of thread for a couple of bucks.  I definitely see why folks sell them for a couple hundred online, because it's very time consuming and you have to be pretty anal to get the jacquard not to bunch up.  I had to rip it all off once because it looked bad.  Second time round, I sewed along the top of the jacquard first, then did a second round sewing around the bottom of it.

This looks fantastic! And, I must admit, I giggled when I read the 'downright cold in the 40s.' People around here are wearing slightly lighter jackets at that point. Silly Chicago-land weather.  Roll Eyes

LOL crazy Chicagoans!  My definition of cold has definitley changed after 8 years in NorCal.  I grew up in WV where you just get used to coats over Halloween costumes and kicking around in the snow in Easter finery. Smiley. I am starting to miss snow finally.
