This is probably incredibly silly, but I've gotten really into painting wooden things (from AC Moore, pretty cheap) and made a jellyfish tray to keep all of my stuff in. I primed the tray with white paint, penciled on the jellyfish and the stripes, then painted. The seaweed was freehand. After I put on all of the colored paint (liquid acylic), I used a black Zig Painty marker-pen-thingy to put in all of the black lines. It's going to be coated in spray finish, but I wanted to get the photo while it was still matte. Be careful with spray finish and the Painty markers, you have to apply a lot of light coats instead of heavy, or the marker-pen-stuff bleeds like crazy.

Thank you all so much! I have a few things in it right now, but it's mostly empty. I live with a fine artist, so sometimes it's easy to lose perspective. Wink (besides, I love silly.)

i'm what could considered a "fine artist" & i take great pleasure in doing stuff like this because it's so nice to kick back & make something totally fun.

it's an amazing tray, you should be proud!!!  Grin

So cute! I sometimes think "cute" is it's own particular art style. My husband does the serious portrait and sculpture thing but couldn't draw or sculpt a cute ___ (fill in the blank) to save his live.

Great job on the cute tray!

That is not silly at all, it is insanely cute. I love painting wooden stuff, but I rarely have enough cash to buy anything good.

Thanks. (I lost track of the topic for a while). I actually really love squid, but couldn't come up with a version that didn't look phallic, so I ended up with the jellyfish. Grin I'm hoping to move on to web (I'm finally giving up on my seizure inducing free website and have invested in a domain) and gallery sales with some smaller items, we'll have to see. Now if I can only perfect the squid....Smiley

I'm a supposed "fine artist" as well (working toward my BFA), and I think that the jellies are great! I do a number of cute things myself, which drives my teachers to distraction.

I love jellyfish, squid, and all those other sea creatures with tentacles. I'm teaching myself to crochet, just so I can make the yarn versions.

maybe I should redecorate my bathroom with a cute nautilus theme Smiley... My boyfriend would have an aneurism.

I think looks cute, and the jelly fishes are the cutests that i've ever seen, since one bit my lil brother a long time ago, where i thought they were horrible...

One thing my design teacher has said: never think your work is silly or anything bad at all Wink, do you promise? hihihi

thanks 4 sharing Smiley

Well, I think the jellyfish are silly, but in the best possible way to be silly.  Well done.

Crafty Fox: Crocheted jellyfish. What fun!  Would you stuff them?
