Couldn't resist this torrid tale of unrequited love, violence and passion amongst veggies.  Found the vintage transfers on Hoop Love on Flickr.  I sewed the napkins from an old flannel sheet.

The lettering, while wonky, is not quite as bad as it looks in the photos.  I think the fabric was bunched up and I didn't realize it.  I'm trying to embrace the "primitive" quality of the work.

I don't know about what was the inspiration, but these are great. I don't think it looks primitive at all.

It's funny, I really disliked the pickle when I first saw the pattern, but as I stitched him up I developed more and more compassion for him.  Maybe he's a nice pickle after all...
