My family is getting together late this month for a little family reunion/vacation.  There will be 14 of us - 8 adults and 6 kids.  My mother, who is hosting this gathering, has decided that we should have a talent show.  I of course, while having talents, have none that are geared towards a "talent show".

So I've been thinking of crafting, but rather than doing a craft and taking it (I'm already painting shirts for everyone!), I was thinking of having everyone do a craft while we're there as my talent.  It has to fit within 20 minutes, has to be kid-friendly, and has to be both girl- and boy-friendly.

I need HELP!  I was thinking of doing glass or bottle cap nacklaces and magnets, but thought those might be a little too simple to count as a 'talent'...PLEASE if you have any ideas, do share!!!

Why not rent a karaoke machine and have everyone sing. It is more fun if no one can sing.  Smiley We do this every fourth of July. We have a big dinner on the ground with grilling and then everyone who wants to sing, gets up. You would be amazed how good some can sound even if they haven't done it before.

As for the craft, why not make  paper beads. There is a tute on here somewhere, telling you how it's done if you don't know. They are really easy to make even for a five year old. Cost is nothing but paper, glue and modge podge. String the beads on elastic cord and make bracelets. Have some little beads for the grown ups to put in between their paper beads, so they look prettier,  and just tie them off when they are finished. No fasteners needed. These turn out really pretty enough to wear even if you are not a kid. Did I mention it would be cheap. Just collect your junk mail. The inside of some envelopes make very pretty beads as does a brown paper bag. Copy paper in various colors is great too.

You don't have to get it right the first time, just the last time.

what about book binding? i don't know if you have any experience, but you could pick out some cool paper and stuff and have everyone each make a tiny little notebook with cool paper.

Make a bunch of freezer paper stencils with family name or event on it. Have them precut and have everyone iron on the stencil and paint them. Like

"Johnson Family
2009"

or some design that is more simple for you to cut out and carry. Great idea. Talents are all types, and I definitely would not sing on a karaoke, unless I had 3 or 4 glasses of wine.

Just simple and fun. Have a good time.
