There's a really great article in the current issue of Threads Magazine about how to alter a pattern to fit a more ample toosh. I had it suggested to me today by one of the women in the costume shop, as I'm having issues altering a shorts pattern to fit me. I have the big hips/thigh/butt, smaller waist issue. It tells you how to measure the pattern to see where it should fit you, and where to split/spread the pattern to add fabric where it's needed.

It's worth buying the magazine for the article! Trust me!
