Moma, I considered substituting Jamiesons spindrift with PT2 for Eunny Jangs Venezia, but realized it would be to thick.
I was worrying about it being too thick too... Nstebarn doesnt have the right colours, so I guess Ill just have to close my eyes to the cost and order the kit.

FYI, www.nbyarns.com (ships to US & Canada only) is selling the kit at a great price and there's a coupon code in the Fall '07 Interweave Knits for a 20% discount. Smiley

I've drawn and redrawn on the chart page in pencil (great deal of erasure!) and almost ready to start! Smiley

I found a couple of great blog/KAL resources:
http://inlovewithautumnrose.blogspot.com/
http://www.shadesofshetland.blogspot.com/
the second recommends 0 or negative ease.

I'm casting on! Smiley

I have some observations: went up to a US size 3 to get gauge.  Spindrift does not frog well.  The yarn has thinned and broken on me 4 times.  Sad

I'm in too Grin

I'm still waiting for my book and yarn to arrive from the US in all their multiple packages, but hopefully it'll get here before Saturday.

knittinfiasco, if you don't mind my asking, did you buy extra yarn for swatching? I only ordered the amount of yarn called for in my size, and now I'm a little worried I'll run out of yarn when I get to the shoulders if I don't get more for swatching. I'm particularly worried after you mentioned spindrift doesn't frog well Sad

No, I didn't get extra for swatching because I got a kit. I will have enough because the smallest size is far too big for me.

I'm rather PO'd about the quality of the yarn I have.

I called Simply Shetland, the distributor for Spindrift in the US, and was told I can only return the yarn, then the store can bug them.  The store is responsible for making me happy, then they make the store happy.  How convoluted and ridiculous is that?

I started swatching last night, whee!
However, I've noticed that some of the yarn was very thin in some areas, and quite loosely spun. Unless I'm super careful when frogging it, it is going to break. I wonder if the yarn is supposed to be like this or if it's simply a bad batch. Not very happy about that, but I guess I'll just have to be careful.

I'd return it.  Simply Shetland should not be distributing poor quality yarn.
