So, we've finally found a venue for our wedding that's within our price range and tastes!

we've hired a rotunda/gazebo thing in a pretty little park in one of the towns in our local wine region. So now i'm looking for ideas to decorate it that don't involve meters and meters of horrid tule and flowers, and i'm wondering if any of you wonderful ladies (or dudes, if you're around) have any ideas for me, cuz i'm fresh out.

I've posted a similar post on the OBBT and had some great replies on there, but just seeing what other ideas (if any) are out there!

Thanks in advance!

Foxie.

Ok here are some ideas just off the top of my head

-christmas lights
-hanging jelly jars with candles inside
-strings of flags(like prayer flags but in any colors)
-tin can lanterns
-paper lanterns
-Those ubiquitous, but awesome tissue paper pom poms
-hanging origami(strings of lucky stars or cranes)
-potted plants that guests or people who helped out alot can take home afterwards
-paper chains(no really, you could make sophisticated ones even)

Ok that's me.

good luck!

since it's in a wine area why not use those decorative grape vines you can get at craft stores?  You could put them just around the gazebo entrance or all over.

I really like the origami idea and the grape vine idea.  What about white lights AND those grape vine thingies?  A lady I used to babysit for had that combination around her gazebo for a wine and cheese party she did and they looked AWESOME.  What about a satiny sheer fabric that matches your bouquet, or even lace, plus the lights but put the lights behind the fabric so it shines through?  Just googled "wedding arch" and found one that has balloons all over it, looks kinda "interesting" lol.  I'm really tired so sorry if these ideas sound terrible  Tongue

there's quite a bit of origami going on already, our centrepieces will be bonsai trees decorated with origami cherry blossoms so that's a good idea... i'd love lots of fairy lights, but the ceremony's going to be held at 11:00 in the morning, so they wouldn't end up being very effective i don't think.....

lots of great ideas so far, but do keep them coming, cuz i still don't have a complete vision of "oh my god thats it!" in my head.... i can see bits and pieces of all these ideas coming together, but there's just something missing.....
