I was up late one night and watching DIY Network. Craft Lab cam on and they made this out of potato chip bags

for-ev-er, well maybe 3 days working a few hours each day. It got really stressful when it came to sewing it together and figuring out how to keep the bottom shut.

not really, it's just paper and thin catalog paper too so it won't scratch you or anything

I prefer to start with the bottom so you can lace from both the right and wrong sides.  I made a loop of paper chain, folded it in half and matched up the points.  Then laced from the center toward one end, (and left the string dangling) then the center toward the other end.  Then squashed and finished the corners.  Then flipped it over and laced it again on the "wrong" side.  Much stronger bottom that way.

I remember a friend and I making the ropes after watching 28 Days in high school... can't wait to learn to make a clutch!

Oh, I've made one of these before! I recommend using the chip bags, candy wrappers, or even soda bottle labels for this, because the magazine pages aren't waterproof in the least, and they rip so much, unless you coat it with Modge Podge or something.
