I spy quilt

I am making two of these.  My son's is finished and my daughter's is almost there, but I couldn't wait to post pictures.
this is about 4x6'
Each of the 864 squares are different and fussy cut!
The quilt was put together using a quilt as you go method.
There are more mistakes than things I got right, but I love it anyway.  And more importantly so does my son.

My daughter's will be the same except with a pink back.
That is another 864 fussy cut squares...  Her's needs to be quilted and assembled, but the little squares are already cut and made into blocks.

As I finished each block the kids would take them and play ispy with them...they would also help me lay out the blocks (not that I really paid much attention to what went where).  And I sorta had in my mind that as the kids were sick or scared or as we cuddled we could look and find new things each time.

The cutting began in Oct. 08'  So, I've been at it 8 months.  However, I've put it aside many times to work on other things.  The cutting by far took the longest...months of cutting an hour or two a night.  Gathering the different fabrics took a while to.  I finally found a seller on ebay that sold a ton of novelty prints.  She agreed to cut me 6 inch squares of all her different fabrics.  It got expensive, but I was able to keep each and every block different.  Sewing the squares together to form blocks was pretty straight forward and fast.  Learning to quilt the blocks, do the sashing and stuff didn't take as long as I had thought.  So, really it was the fussy cutting that took forever.
